    i've been working on spec's and glyph set ups lately and i can pick one that i like best i have a few i am working on and i kept in mind that not everyone is hit capped and that you all may need 2 points in the hit talent on some of them. give any opinions you guys want i want to hear what the other hunters think too.

    i am currently using this one becasue i was able to hit cap on just gear.

    the part about these kind of spec's that i like is it adds haste and opens up the imp hawk glyph to add even more haste

    This is what I spec for raids. I started out as a survival or mm/surv pvp player, and keeping my dots up(SS/VS)was priority. I actually leveled up as surv heheheh. So I reflected my spec/glyph combination on my type of playing and emphasized on the dot/steady shot glyph bonus. I use the hunter's mark glyph, the serpent sting glyph and the steady shot glyph.

    What I'd like to figure out is which food and elixir would be more effective. For last Saturday's 25 man Naxx, I used the 40 agi food and the 45 agi elixir. Vzi was using the 80ap food and the 190AP flask. Vzi pretty much out DPS'd me in most of the boss encounters.

    What do you guys think?

    Also Zab, I always keep an eye on my hunter's mark along with my SS. Will it be a loss of dps if I refresh it as soon as it dissipates from the boss/mob?

    And last, to Zab and Vzi. What glyphs do you use? What's your rotation. I know we've discussed it already and we probably have the same rotations.

    refreshing the sting earlier would lower dps casue you lose a tick and you could get the messege "more powerful spell" cause something proc-ed for you. but the mark would be better to keep up at all times casue without that everythign for you gose down.

    In all fairness also mord, vzi has had a extra kick to what he's doing casue i have been using him as my test subject for spec's now just to see how things work out with idea's i've been having. you have been the control to see how my latest performs.

    the attpow flask tho i think that maybe better then the other pots that you could use just casue it is more even after buff (i think) but personally i would stand by the agil food but i trust both of you on what you try to increse you dps however you can

    currently my glyphs are. steady shot, serpent sting and imp hawk becasue of the spec i am trying.
    my rotation is. mark-sting-explosive-aimed-steady until stuff is off cooldown or needs to be refreshed. and when LNL proc's its explo-ss-explo-ss

    Oh ok. Good to know things are going well with the tests heheh. I'll get the AP flask then for the next raids. Mummakil is an alchemist so I think he can make some for me. Got most of my agi pots from him.

    Also one more thing. Because we share the same rotations, which is better? Aimed shot or multi-shot?

    really we cant tell aimed shot dose about the same as multi but aimed is an instant cast and multi has a .5cast so it could be the diff right there with that little less time "casting"

    if you want to try that spec feel free and see how you like it, just be sure to have the imp hawk glyph, or you could take the 2 points out of the imp stings talent and put them in the imp hawk talent and see what you like

    fuck this, i just find a good spec for you guys and then get on MMO and they changed survival like wtf, the spec is good for now guys but i'm working on the after patch one now >.< total crap but the ideas are already flowing for everything. it wont take me long casue i'm cool that way. i copied the post for hunters and added below



    Frost Trap: If the target who triggers Frost Trap is immune to its effect, the Frost Trap area effect will no longer be triggered.

    Talents
    Beast Mastery

    Improved Aspect of the Hawk now has a new spell effect.
    Improved Wing Clip: This talent has been removed.

    Marksmanship

    Piercing Shots re-designed: Your critical Aimed, Steady and Chimera Shots cause the target to bleed for 10/20/30% of the damage dealt over 8 sec.
    Ranged Weapon Specialization: Points reduced from 5 to 3, 1/3/5%.
    Wild Quiver: Chance increased to 4/8/12%, up from 4/7/10%. Damage increased from 50% of an auto shot, to 80%.

    Survival

    Hunting Party: This talent has been reduced to 3-points, and now increases your total Agility by an additional 1/2/3%.
    Lock and Load re-designed: You now have a 33/66/100% chance when you trap a target with Freezing Trap, Freezing Arrow or Frost Trap and a 2/4/6% chance when you deal periodic damage with your Immolation Trap or Black Arrow to cause your next 2 Arcane Shot or Explosive Shot spells to trigger no cooldown, cost no mana and consume no ammo. This now has a new spell effect and sound.
    New Talent: Trap Launcher: When activated, your next Trap will be launched instantly at the enemy target. 1 minute cooldown.
    T.N.T. re-designed: Increases the damage done by your Explosive Shot, Explosive Trap and Immolation Trap by 2/4/6%, and gives your Explosive Shot a 33/66/100% chance to refresh the duration of your Immolation Trap effect on the target.
    Trap Mastery: This talent has been moved up to tier-2, up from tier-9.
    Wyvern Sting duration increased from 12 sec to 30 sec. PvP duration reduced from 10 sec to 6 sec.

    Pets

    Roar of Sacrifice can be used on the hunter only.
    Stampede (rhino) only affects 1 target, but adds a 25% bleed damage debuff (that does not stack with Mangle etc.) in addition to its knockback.

    Hmmm, this'll be interesting. Think it will be more trap oriented now. I like the bleed from piercing too.

    K well I haven't really posted here so I'm just going to give my two cents.
    In terms of glyphs, I currently use (for pve) improved aspect of the hawk, steady shot, and serpent sting. For pvp I use disengage, wyvern sting, and frost trap glyphs. my minors are um.. feign death, revive pet, and mend pet. They really don't change from pvp to pve. I don't have links to my pve or pvp spec atm. My pve spec is basically the same as mords, and I use the shot rotation of this: i open with a serpent sting, then explosive shot, multi-shot, steady shot til explosive is ready again. In raids I'll use a flask of endless rage for attack power as well as speed potions that I'll pop with the rest of my cooldowns. I really, REALLY like speed potions. Unfortunatly you can only quaff one per fight... and you can't gay it by putting your pet on passive and feigning either... i've tried.
    In my opinion theres no "set" pvp spec. Pvp is a completely different thing from pve and you can't just take a cookie cutter spec for it. One person might be deadly with one spec, and you might completely suck at it. It really depends on how you play your hunter and who your partner is. Right now my partner for 2s is Pamps... and its an odd combination because neither of us are a melee class. How I do my arena matches completely depends on what the other team goes for. Its generally 50/50... sometimes they'll go after Pamps, sometimes they'll go after me. If they go after me Im extremely trap/wing clip oriented. If they go after Pamps we're much more CC oriented with Wyvern, Frost arrow, etc.
    I'll eventually link up my 2 specs I use, but I really don't feel like it now. I'm going to go through the patch notes and see if my MM talent build is going to be viable again. I leveled this character MM.. and that seems to surprise a lot of people for some reason. The thing I like about MM is the silencing shot and chimera shot... in arena chimera shot can be so fucking useful with viper sting. From what I've read with Zab's post of the patch notes they seem to be upgrading MM hunters a bit with wild arrows and what not. Marksmans are the hit em slow, hit em hard class... which they should be. More sniperish which is why I started playing a hunter... I wanted to climb a tree and kill you ... which apparently I can't.... unless I get a laptop and really climb a tree....

    so after playing with my current spec for sometime i ran a heroic the other day and me being yoru forgetful leader just remembered it now. i have 5/5 in imp hawk and the glyph so it adds up to alot of haste. well with imp hawk up and bloodlust going i went past the amount of haste that is good and it became to much. i think my SS with that and lust was a 1sec cast...making it faster then the GC so worthless, i clicked imp hawk off just becasue it was better. so just for everyones knowledge 5/5 hawk +glyph isnt good. stuff like this is why haste has never been that good for hunters
    and i'm not working on a new spec i like until after the patch but i wanted to keep you guys updated on my testing.

    I'm looking forward to the next patch, going to be interesting to see how to spec as a hunter now. Especially since Ulduar requiring CC on trash and what not, should be fun to mess around with traps again.

    But then I realized Sniper Training has bee changed from having to be at a certain range to get the buff, to just standing still for 6 secs. So I took out the 3 points from Hawk Eye and put them somewhere else.

    So now I'm leaning more towards this spec.

    Its kinda balancing your sting with your Black Arrow.

    Haven't tested them out yet, so we'll see.

    His rotation is different from mine though. His is based on damage priority. Mine is based on cooldown timing and coordinating dot refreshment with the timing.

    Based on my haste rating which is 2.24 (400+ish)
    My shot goes out like this. <explo><blackarrow><serpent><steadyshot>at this point, <explo> is off CD. So <explo> and then the usual rotation of steady shot, aimed shot and refreshing explosive shot, serpent sting and black arrow when off CD. I fire black arrow before serpent sting first because it has a longer cooldown. I try to time my shots as precisely as I can to keep explosive shot off the global cooldown when it is almost out of CD ad I'm still casting other shots. Also, there is a split second timing to skip global cooldown for steady shot and aimed shot combination. I don't know if you guys already know this. But when you're casting steady shot, the casting is obviously slower then the shot CD. So when casting <steady>, when the shot has already finished off CD, cast <aimed> while <steady> is still casting but make sure the cast bar is at 75-80% done. This will let you fire steady shot and aimed shot almost at the same time instead of waiting for global CD to be able to cast aimed shot right after steady shot.

    One other thing, like John said, too much haste is bad for us. It messes up my timing. I've tried like 2.18 or 2.20 haste rating and then did my usual rotation with BL up, its annoying heheheh.

    Oh and I'm still looking for that glyph of Explosive Shot.

    there is 2points left over for hit talent or aimed and silencing shot
    the spec is basically readiness and rapidfire a lot casue it keeps ur mana up and keeps the dps up so with doing that and have imp hawk going avoid haste on gear or bad things will happen i have covered that before

    Heres an alternate approach on a SV build that the 3 of the hunters in my guild are using atm. Its working pretty well for us, Almost the same as one of Zab's builds except it only has 1 point in the hunting party talent as we don't see the agility buff as that major compared to having black arrow up as much as possible. In terms of DPS, its really nice from what we've seen.

    thats not that bad of a spec but i dont see the point of the explo shot glyph you shold have enough crit in a raid without it personally i'd rather get the extra 10% from steady shot then 4%crit but thats me

    Im with you on that. I originally wanted to keep my steady shot / serpent sting glyphs. But from my new shot rotation with black arrow added into it, im not using steady shot nearly as much as a filler. I'd really have to sit down and run tests with recount on a dummy. At this point explosive shot glyphs are going for 250g on my server, and I can't even find a kill shot yet. Think im using explosive, AotH, and steady shot atm. You're right, should be enough crit. I'll experiment and see whats different. Honestly I don't see how it could be that big of a dps change tho.
